Siren Speaker Cable review
Dear Brad,
I’ve
received the Siren cable on Monday. I had a rehearsal yesterday night and the only thing I can say is that when both, the
Lyric HG (from my guitar to the effect chain) and the Siren Speaker cable work together, it is pure heaven. I was really,
really shocked. During the rehearsal, I was unpatient to give you this review. My
gear is completely vintage. Here is the whole chain : 1970 Gibson SG standard, Lyric HG, vintage Proco Rat, 70’s Mutron
phaser, 70’s Mutron Wah, Line6 DL4, vintage Boss RX-100 reverb, and the “king” vintage 1972 Hiwatt DR-504,
Matamp 2X12 cab with Eminence speakers. Patch cables are Planet Waves. What is important
to underline is that the Hiwatt is a very sensitive amplifier, I really think that it is the best amp if you search for a
strong, clear, standard clean sound, this amp is very basic, there’s no effect on it. Volume, treble, middle, bass,
that’s it. The only thing it does is to amplify the sound of your guitar. Last
week, when I played only with the Lyric HG, I was kind of sceptic, because I had the impression that bottom end had disappeared,
I was not convinced with bass notes. I also have to say that the overall sound (with all instruments) during this rehearsal
was awful, a real nightmare. But, between these two rehearsals, the Siren arrived… So, yesterday night was the test
with both cables. The first notes I played yesterday, I said wow, incredible, the
bottom end was back and pure. With the same volume as usual, my amp sounded louder, but the sound through the mix with the
other instruments was unbelievable. My Hiwatt loves the Siren. If you play a chord (w/clean sound), each note of the guitar
breathes like I’ve never heard that, and the sound is so sweet, it sings.My surprise was when I started
to try the effects, each effects was working like I’ve never heard them. The Mutron phaser was so pure, it is like if
the Evidence cables had increased its sonic capacities. It was exactly the same with all my effects, even with my Proco Rat.
Evidence cables is the best thing you can do to your gear ! It will only ehance all your gear and sounds, all your sounds,
the whole range. I have a little of David Gilmour philosophy about sounds. I mean
that my aim is to start with the most basic amp (without effects !), I mean that the amp has to sound good without overdrive,
without reverb, just the sound of the guitar direct to the amp. When I reach this pure clean sound, then I start to add effects.
My amp played clean is almost like a Roland Jazz Chorus but with the addition of valve sensation. And this is a very important
point, is that Evidence cables really improve this basic sound, I’ve tested this yesterday and hands down it really
works. I’m not so stressed to buy my next Evidence patch cables,
because with the Siren and the Lyric HG, the improvement of my sound is so huge that it’s gonna take a while until I
recover from the yesterday’s shock. In the future I’ll talk to many musicians
from here in Switzerland about Evidence cables and I’ll make them ear the sound and suggest to buy their cables on your
website. I hope my English is not too catastrophic J
